Feminism is an oft-touted topic. Both proponents and opponents have equally strong opinions.
This article however isn’t about feminism. It’s a story of optimism and realism to fight criticism and skepticism, through a positive mechanism of altruism!
It’s about how 14 women of diverse backgrounds, demography, age groups and professions can come together for a common cause, and how they could motivate themselves and one another.
They were bound by a common Postal PIN, and a common goal Post. To Get to the coveted FCL trophy 🏆…against all odds!
Its 6AM on a cold misty January morning, with 80% chance of precipitation. The average Serenite would prefer to snuggle under the warmth of a blanket. But not these ladies. They mustered rather inexplicable energy to jolt themselves into action, fighting odds at home and work. They didn’t do it for them. They did it for us. While rest of us were reeling from hangover of New Year’s eve, our eves were out there practicing and perfecting their skill.
They demonstrated to us what could possibly be achieved if you set your mind and commit your heart to something!
Serenity Ladies went up against many other apartment teams including Sobha Forest View, Sobha Arena and Rohan Akriti. Mind you none of these are easy peasy lemon squeezy teams. They all are winners in their own merit, on their day. But for our ladies to come head to head against strong contenders and still emerge victorious gives us unbridled joy and pride.
In the tournament, while they were off to a rough start by losing a game to Sobha Forest View, they came from behind to beat Sobha Arena in the next perform-or-perish encounter.
Then in the semis they beat Rohan Akriti and finally served cold revenge against Sobha Forest View against whom they had lost their first encounter, thus laying their hands on the coveted trophy🏆
So the next time there’s a debate on feminism, remember these 14 women who played their hearts out, for our glory!
Only a SeLeCT few can practice and perform with such steadfast tenacity, and that’s why we have a rather ominous Serenity Ladies Cricket Team (SLCT)
The next time you wake up before the sun pushes itself out of the horizon, remember that there might be 14 ladies in Block 6 honing their skills and sharpening the metaphorical axe in preparation for their next challenge
